In the contemporary landscape of data-driven solutions, the COMSYS Hackathon-1, organized by the COMSYS Educational Trust, Kolkata in cooperation with Code Club JU (Jadavpur University) stood as a testament to innovation and data science prowess.

Round 1: Tweaking Tweets and Football Insights

The competition commenced with two distinct tracks. Track 1 tasked teams with classifying tweets reflecting various mental and psychological conditions, the dataset for which was prepared using Prompt Engineering and Large Language Models (LLMs). Track 2 invited participants to predict the market value of footballers based on game statistics and previous market values, the dataset for which was prepared by scraping numerous websites containing player statistics and their periodically calculated market value data.

Round 2: Climate Change Predictions

Round 2 focused on predicting atmospheric carbon dioxide levels from climate data. Finalists presented their solutions offline on 17^th October, 2023, facing a panel of judges at the esteemed Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Mandi, Himachal Pradesh, India during the 4^th edition of the International Conference on Frontiers in Computing and Systems (COMSYS-2023).

The CodeClub JU team, including Arin Ray, Aryan Paul, Om Mittal, Sounak Ghosh, Sushmit Dasgupta, Parthiv Sarkar, and Upayan De, orchestrated a remarkable event, achieving 12,000+ impressions on Unstop and drawing 682 registrations forming over 360 teams.

The support and guidance from Prof. Ram Sarkar and Prof. Debotosh Bhattacharjee of Jadavpur University were instrumental in ensuring the successful and seamless execution of the hackathon.

The COMSYS Hackathon-1 fostered talent, knowledge exchange, and a sense of community among data science enthusiasts. It highlights the critical role of data science in addressing real-world issues.
